Our History
Since obtaining the first Australian polyurethane foam production licence in 1953, Joyce has been committed to manufacturing innovative and high-performance polyurethane foams for a range of applications in the bedding, furniture, medical and industrial sectors.
1886
Joyce Bros register in Sydney to produce calico and linen bags.
1922
The product range is expanded to include mattresses known as the Night’s Ease brand.
1953
The first Australian polyurethane foam manufacturing licence is obtained and production soon begins in Liverpool, NSW.
1999
Polystyrene Industries joins the Joyce family, strengthening Joyce’s product offering in Western Australia.
2005
Joyce is acquired by Sheela Foam, India’s leading polyurethane foam manufacturer.
2010
Variable Pressure Foaming (VPF) technology is introduced to Joyce.

Today, Joyce has offices across Australia and manufactures over 60 grades of foam using the world’s most advanced foam-making technology, VPF. We are committed to environmentally sensitive manufacturing and are working towards a circular economy where waste minimisation, renewable resources and recycling are a fundamental part of our production process.
